Golfers advance to sectionals

Wheaton Warrenville South wins multiple regionals

Wheaton Warrenville South won the St. Francis Regional with a score of 341 on Wednesday at Prairie Landing Golf Club.

St. Francis finished third (374), Glenbard West placed fifth (393), Wheaton North finished sixth (397) and Glenbard South landed seventh (453). The top three teams advance to sectionals.

WW South scores were Sarah Skurla (83), Amy Woods (92), Emily Johnson (84), Mallory Glanzman (90), Renee Solberg (84) and Katie Novosad (104).

St. Francis scores were Kayla Stueland (80), Megan Van Thournout (87), Grace Pinns (100), Mary Kate Beckman (117), Carolyn Flood (116) and Kelsey Kerr (107).

Glenbard West's Brooke Kochevar placed first with a 72. Other individuals advancing to sectionals are Glenbard West's Claire Lupo along with Wheaton North's Ellyssa Cassier, Natalie Kinsey and Maddie Bucheit.

Several boys golf regionals took place Tuesday.

Wheaton Warrenville South won the West Aurora Regional with a score of 307, edging second-place Neuqua Valley (309).

For the Tigers, Tee-K Kelly shot a 73 followed by Jason Plepel (76), Chris McCaffrey (82), Will Dolatowski (77), Jeremy Rhoades Jr. (81) and Tom Henning (83).

Waubonsie Valley's Alex Koulos took home the first-place medal with a 72.

Glenbard West finished fourth in the York Regional with a score of 317 at Oak Meadows. Wheaton North finished eighth with a 347. Neither team will advance to sectionals, but Eric Brockford and Kyle Kochevar of Glenbard West will, along with Wheaton North's Richie VanVoorhis.

Hinsdale Central's Theodore Lederhausen earned the first-place medal, as did his team.

St. Francis and Glenbard South finished third and fourth, respectively, at the Aurora Central Catholic Regional at Phillips Park.

The Spartans will advance as a team, backed by Larry Murrison (80), Keegan O'Rahilly (82), Mike Melka (87), Joe Bruggeman (88), Matt Vale (81) and Chris Garcia (86).

Glenbard South advanced two individuals: Will Lear and Mitch McNeily. David Flynn of Wheaton Academy won the meet with a 74, as did his team.
