Glenbard parent workshop set for Nov. 14

November 6, 2009

Glenbard School District 87 will host the next program in its parents series at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at Glenbard East High School.

Parents and students from all four Glenbard high schools are welcome to the free program, which will focus on academic improvement strategies.

The event will feature a continental breakfast, followed by discussions with guest speakers Stephen Garlington and Lourdes Ferrer, who are minority student achievement consultants for the Regional Office of Education.

Glenbard staff members providing workshops will be District 87 literacy coordinator Sandra Coughlin and Lila Birchfield, Glenbard North English Language Learners parent liaison.

The goal of the Saturday series is to support parents and guardians as partners in academic success, district officials said.

The programs are offered in both English and Spanish. Musical entertainment and babysitting will be provided by Glenbard East students.
