College of DuPage Arts Center gets $20,000 for programming

November 6, 2009

Performances at the College of DuPage McAninch Arts Center are partially supported by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, which recently provided the center with a $20,300 grant for 2009-2010 programming.

The center's 2009-10 season will include more than 50 performances, 10 Gahlberg Gallery art exhibits and ten SchoolStage programs, as well as 13 events produced by the college's resident professional ensembles, The Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, New Philharmonic and DuPage Opera Theatre.

In addition, more than 75 workshops, master classes, artist receptions, special lectures and pre- and post-performance discussions will combine with other outreach initiatives to provide additional opportunities for the community to access the performing arts, college officials said.

The center's designation as an Illinois Arts Council Partner in Excellence requires superior arts programming, outstanding management and fiscal stability. Partner in Excellence designees must engage underserved audiences and include a significant number of Illinois artists and performers in their line-up.
