Belgian organist to present concert at Grace Lutheran

November 6, 2009

Belgian organ virtuoso Eric Hallein will present an organ recital at 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at Grace Lutheran Church at 493 Forest Ave. in downtown Glen Ellyn

Hallein will perform a varied program of music on the classic Schlicker pipe organ in the church sanctuary as a part of the church's centennial celebrations. The concert is open to the public, and there is no admission charge.

Hallein has performed before audiences in most European countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy, as well as in South Africa and the United States.

He teaches organ at the Roeselare and Menen Musical Academies as well as harpsichord at the Ypres Musical Academy in Belgium.

Following preliminary studies at the Lemmens Institute, Hallein took up higher musical education studies at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels. There, he was awarded various first prizes as well as higher diplomas for chamber music and harpsichord.

The program in Glen Ellyn will feature organ music from Germany, France and Belgium. For information, call the Grace Church office at 630-469-1555.
