Bells & Whistles to host photo exhibit

November 6, 2009

Bells & Whistles Snackery will host the new Scenes of Glen Ellyn photo exhibition by local photographer Erik Peterson from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 13.

Peterson's photography has appeared recently in local community magazines, and his first public exhibition was held in August at the 40th Festival of the Arts at Lake Ellyn in Glen Ellyn.

In addition, The village of Glen Ellyn recently installed a series of canvas prints by Peterson in the Galligan Boardroom.

"We are very excited about this installation," said Steve Jones, village manager. "It has transformed the boardroom into a more energetic space and reflects the positive community spirit that exists in Glen Ellyn."

Village President Mark Pfefferman agreed.

"If pictures are worth a thousand words, these speak volumes about what's great about life in Glen Ellyn," he said.

Last fall, Peterson's panoramic image of the Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk became a recognized symbol of the large community event.

"That image has resonated with so many residents and business owners," Peterson said. "I'm delighted that my photography has had a positive effect on others."

Beginning Nov. 13, a collection of Peterson's photography will be on display at Bells & Whistles Snackery.

Tracey Kreiling, owner of Bells & Whistles, said Peterson's photos are worth seeing.

"We are thrilled to host the unveiling of this exhibit," she said. "Erik's photography, in particular his Holiday Walk image, captures the heart and soul of this community."

In 2008, Kreiling helped organize the Madonnari Off Main project which presented European chalk artists in downtown Glen Ellyn.

Bells & Whistles is at 405 N. Main St. in downtown Glen Ellyn.
