Briefs: Performers sought for holiday concert
The Downtown St. Charles Partnership is looking for musicians, dancers, actors and performers of all ages to participate in the free family concert presented as part of the annual Holiday Homecoming event. The concert will be held at the historic Arcada Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
Coordinated by musical director Robb Murphy of St. Charles, this concert is an opportunity to showcase talent from within the community. The DSCP is seeking performance material that celebrates the season with traditional or modern favorites.
Those interested should contact Murphy at 630-377-4991 no later than Oct. 30. Auditions will be arranged as needed, by appointment.
This year's holiday events will also include the traditional Lighting of the Lights ceremony on Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. in Lincoln Park and the fully illuminated Electric Christmas Parade to be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. Also included in the weekend festivities are a free holiday movie at the Arcada, strolling carolers and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Scott Greenberg, a motivational speaker and performance enhancement coach, will be the presenter. He has worked with thousands of teenagers and identified their most common mental blocks. Parents can learn how to motivate your kids through their own mental blocks.
