Coping with stress: District 202 social workers will present a seminar for parents of middle and high school students to learn how to deal with stress in the household, from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Plainfield North High School. The seminar will feature Naperville-based psychologist Dr, Margaret Wehrenberg. She will offer advice about what parents can do to prevent stress from impacting their children. Parents will also learn techniques to help their teenagers cope with stress. This event will be held in the auditorium at PNHS, 12005 S. 248th Street, Plainfield. This is the second of four seminars that district social workers plan for this school year. Motivation for a Lifetime: 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Road. Motivational speaker Jeff Studzinski will share his inspirational message titled "Motivation for a Lifetime." This event is free and open to the public. For more than 25 years, Studzinski has been a highly successful sales professional working for top Fortune 500 companies. In fact, he has spoken at national seminars and trade shows, and major corporations have implemented his sales program titled, "Commitment to Excellence." He and his son Josh founded a company called Revolutionizing Growth. It provides speakers for a variety of topics. 'The Peaceful Potter': Join Plainfield Art League at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 for a fun filled evening with "The Peaceful Potter" Joe Hadamik. Joe will be demonstrating the technique of altering wheel thrown pots. This will be a hands on demo and visitors will be asked to participate. Dress accordingly. Italian Dinner: Good Shepherd Council 5573 of the Knights of Columbus will serve an Italian Dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 in the St. Mary Immaculate Gym. Cooked by Angelo and his Italian chefs, the menu includes mostaccioli with meat sauce, salad, bread. All adults can eat for $6.50. Children under 5 eat free and children from 5 to 12 at $4.50. The ladies will be selling deserts for 50 cents and coffee for 25 cents. A cash bar with pop, water, beer and wine will be available! Toys for Tots deadline: The Plainfield Fire Protection District will be collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Donations can now be dropped off at all fire stations as well as at the administration building in downtown Plainfield through Dec. 9. Please only donate new toys and do not gift wrap the toys. Clothing and used stuffed animals will not be accepted. For more information about the Toys for Tots program visit www.toysfortots.org.
