Filing ends for election

January 27, 2009

PLAINFIELD -- The people who want seats on Plainfield-area governing boards have turned in their petitions.

Monday was the last day to file paperwork for a place on the April ballot. Those petitions may be challenged until Feb. 2.

Five people filed for Plainfield village president: Michael Collins, Bill Lamb, Cheryl Barrett, Jim Waldorf and Bob Pottoroff.

Five people also sought three open seats on the Plainfield Village Board: Margie Bonuchi, Garrett Peck, Jim Racich, Dan Paulaskas and Jesse L. Maggitt.

Just four people sought the four open Plainfield library board seats: Patricia Miller, Mary Francis Wilkens, Mary J. Stevens and Mina Green.

For Plainfield's park district board, three people filed, but only two seats are open. The candidates are John Primiano, Larry Newton, and Mary K. Ludemann.

The school board candidates will see a little more competition. Four terms are up for re-election, and eight residents are taking a shot at the seats. They are Rod Westfall, Michelle Smith, Anthony Scala, Alie Kabba, Shestine Gesbocker, Eric Gallt, Thomas Burau and Michael Kelly.
