There was no substitute for experience this season for prep baseball teams in the North Suburban Conference.

Many of the top teams in the league were top-heavy with upper-classmen, so it came as no surprise that when the All-North Suburban Conference Team was selected recently that 30 of the 42 members of the team were seniors.

NSC champion and co-Lake Division winner Lake Zurich was one of three teams which had six players chosen -- including Penn State University-bound Joe DeBernardis.

Mundelein, another co-Lake Division winner, and Libertyville also had six players selected to the team. Stevenson was next in the NSC Lake with four players.

NSC Prairie Division winner Vernon Hills also had four players picked to the team.

While the NSC was competitive this season, the league didn't have a strong post-season, as only two teams -- Mundelein in Class 4A and Lakes in Class 3A -- won regional championships. Prep Baseball
