Stevenson and Libertyville split baseball doubleheader

LINCOLNSHIRE -- The Stevenson Patriots and Libertyville Wildcats baseball teams split a North Suburban Conference Lake Division doubleheader Saturday, with Stevenson taking game one 4-0 and Libertyville winning the second game 9-4.

A couple of juniors matched arms in game one, with Scott Firth outdueling Troy Barton, with both pitchers going the distance. Firth’s 2-hit shutout included 11 strikeouts, 0 walks and 1 hit batsman.

Catcher Jason Douglas was 2 for 3 for the Patriots.

The Wildcats scored in the first four innings of game two and led 9-1 before settling for the five-run win.

Stevenson is now 9-5 overall and 3-1 in conference.

Libertyville is 1-3 in conference and 7-7 overall.
