VERNON HILLS – Sophomore sensation Mika Hlavin won two individual events and led off two winning relay teams to lead Lake Forest High to the team title in the North Suburban Conference girls swimming meet that was held here Saturday.
Hlavin won the 50-yard freestyle (24.81 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (53.77) and swam leadoff on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:40.77) and 400 freestyle relay (3:39.51).
Lake Forest totaled 292 team points to crush the opposition. Libertyville was second with 225, Stevenson third with 223.5, and Warren and Mundelein tied for fourth with 168. Vernon Hills and Zion-Benton also competed.
The state-qualifying standards that must be attainted at the IHSA sectional include 24.84 in the 50 freestyle, 53.99 in the 100 freestyle, 1:40.19 in the 200 freestyle relay, and 3:39.9 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Other winners on Saturday included Mundelein’s 200 medley relay team of Emma Eugdahl, Lauren Anderson, Cassie Brueckbauer and Amy Klink; Stevenson diver Kerrin Seymour; Vernon Hills’ Melanie Rowland in the 200 freestyle, Libertyville’s Morgan Dickson in the 200 individual medley, Stevenson’s Emma VanLieshout in the 100 butterfly, Lake Forest’s Rachel Stoehr in the 500 freestyle, Lake Forest’s Olivia Campbell in the 100 backstorke, and Libertyville’s Maggie Boling in the 100 breaststroke.
