WEEKEND WARRIORS

ANTIOCH

• Girls Volleyball -- IN a 25-8, 25-18 loss to state-power Prairie Ridge, the Sequoits got solid play from Brianna Grant (3 kills, 2 blocks), Erica Lubkeman (2 kills, 6 digs), Amber Dalaard (13 digs) and Kendall Padgett (4 assists, 3 digs).

• Girls Cross Country -- Erin Poss finished third overall in the IHSA Class 2A Belvidere Sectional to qualify for Saturday's state meet. She ran the three-mile course in 19:03.

LAKE FOREST

• Boys Cross Country -- Senior Henry Mynatt has one more prep race in him. He qualified for Saturday's IHSA Class 3A state meet by finishing seventh overall in the Schaumburg Sectional. Lake Forest's team did not qualify for state, finishing ninth.

• Boys Soccer -- The Scouts edged Deerfield 1-0 to win the IHSA Class 3A Stevenson Sectional and advance to Tuesday's Round of 8 super-sectional at Loyola University in Chicago against New Trier. Harry Shipp's cross to Noah Wagemann produced the goal as the winners moved to 19-3-1.

LAKES

• Boys Cross Country -- Ryan Prais finished ninth overall at the Belvidere Sectional and will get to run in the IHSA Class 2A state meet on Saturday in Peoria.

LAKE ZURICH

• Girls Volleyball -- A 25-20, 17-25, 25-18 win over Stevenson earned the Bears an IHSA Class 4A regional title. They are 31-6. Jenn Grunden had 15 kills and Brittany Murawski 10.

• Boys Cross Country -- The Bears tied for fifth in the team competition at the Schaumburg Sectional and will run as a team on Saturday in the IHSA Class 3A state meet in Peoria. Paul Geimer finished 22nd overall to lead the Bears.

LIBERTYVILLE

• Girls Cross Country -- Senior Megan Janezik finished 22nd overall in the IHSA Class 3A Schaumburg Sectional and will run in Peoria on Saturday in the state meet.

MUNDELEIN

• Girls Volleyball -- The Mustangs improved to 27-9 and won an IHSA Class 4A regional title by beating Lake Forest 25-17, 25-21. Brittany Jones and Megan Barron each had 5 kills, and Kelsey Sullivan was perfect on 45 sets with 15 assists.

ROUND LAKE

• Boys Cross Country -- Junior Juan Carrera finished 10th in the challenging Schaumburg Sectional and qualified for Saturday's IHSA Class 3A state meet in Peoria.

STEVENSON

• Girls Cross Country -- Freshman Mackenzie Levy finished 15th overall in the IHSA Class 3A Schaumburg Sectional and will run in Peoria on Saturday in the state meet.

• Girls Volleyball -- The Pats finished 22-15 as they lost 25-20, 17-25, 25-18 to Lake Zurich in the finals of an IHSA Class 4A regional. Rachel Baader and Carlee Berland each had 7 kills.

VERNON HILLS

• Girls Volleyball -- Senior thumper Nora Snyder ended a solid prep career with 10 kills as the Cougars lost 25-22, 26d-24 to Wauconda in the finals of the IHSA Class 4A Chicago Senn Regional.

WAUCONDA

• Girls Volleyball -- Maddie Westman had 13 kills and 5 digs to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-22, 26-24 win over Vernon Hills in the finals of the IHSA Class 4A Chicago Senn Regional. It was the first regional title ever in the sport for the Bulldogs. Megan Tallman added 17 assists and had 3 kills and 3 digs.
