Warren holds off Lake Forest for first league win

Warren High’s girls basketball team evened its North Suburban Conference Lake Division record at 1-1 with a 40-33 win over Lake Forest on Saturday.

The Devils led 16-11 at halftime and maintained a small, but important margin the rest of the way.

Senior guard Joree Green led the winner with 11 points, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Morgan Garrett added 11 points and six boards for the winners.

Warren shot 40 percent from the field (14 of 35) and was 9 of 17 from the charity stripe.

Lake Forest was 13 of 35 from the field (37 percent) and just 4 of 10 from the foul line.

Also contributing to the win were Jessica Prince (7 points, 3 rebounds), and Marla Pettis (5 rebounds).

Lake Forest was led by Jamee Jacobson (8 points), Mary Striedl (6 points, 3 rebounds), and Claire Dimario (5 points, 7 rebounds).

There were 4w0 total turnovers in the loosely-played contest, and Lake Forst had a 24-20 advantage on the backboards.
