Seniors shine on their night at Lake Forest

February 3, 2008

LAKE FOREST – Saturday was Senior Night at Lake Forest High, and the home team responded with a 68-35 leveling of hapless Gordon Tech in a non-conference game.

The Soucts are now 14-6 overall and will host Stevenson on Tuesday in a key North Suburban Conference Lake Division matchup.

One of Lake Forest’s seniors – Alex Coffin – led the team in scoring Saturday with a 14 points.

Matt Vogrich added nine oints and Andy Timson and Luis DeLeon each scored seven.

It was 34-19 at halftime and the lead got as big as 35 points down the stretch.

The only drama down the stretch was whether or not Lake Forest senior J.J. Parker would dent the scoring column, which he did with 3:50 left.

“J.J.’s one of our hardest workers,” said Lake Forest coach Phil LaScala. “He’s a defensive specialist. He doesn’t always score the most points, but he’s a great kid and he does a good job at both ends of the court.”

LaScala is very pleased with this group of Scout seniors.

“They’re not only good basketball players, but they’re good role models and excellent examples of what we want for our student-athletes.”
