Highland Park school wins Lakeside championship

Edgewood Middle School in Highland Park won the Lakeside Conference seventh-grade soccer tournament that was held recently at the Libertyville Sports Complex.

The Eagles beat Lake Bluff 5=4-0, Northwood 4-1 and Highland 3-2 to claim the title.

Max Goshen scored a pair of goals in the title game, while Nikki Shiner added one. Daniel Gonzalez tended goal.

Goal scorers in the previous games included Goshen, Xander Grayson, Lily Pickus, Jack Primer, Andrew Schwartz, Shiner, Danny Smith and Amit Tal. Cited for their defensive play were Teddy Dunn, Lindsay Freeman, Sean Knapp, J.P. Leskovich and Hannah Van Cleve. Edgewood finished with a 10-1-2 record. Other team members included Brady McDougall, Jordan Matheu, Christian Knobloch, Jeremy Turley, Zack Goldberg, Rory Miller, Eddie Smoliak and Jeremy Wise. Nick Demchenko, Meghan Erwin and Aaron Prazenka coached the team.
