Robert Morris women's team is on season-long roll

November 6, 2009

The women's bowling team at Waukegan-based Robert Morris University won the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue University last weekend.

The Eagles' men's team finished second in the same event in its division.

The RMU women beat second-place McKendree University by 145 pins in the two-day event.

Eagle junior Heather D'Errico from New York finished fourth in the individual competition. She recently was named recipient of a USBC Star of Tomorrow Award.

The sophomore dynamic duo of Samantha Kelly (Hoffman Estates) and Mindi Dunmire-Miller (Battle Creek, Mich.) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

Senior Mindy Pancoast (Newport News, Virg.) was 25th.

The RMU men's team finished behind Davenport (Mich.) University.

Chris Pierson (Waukesha, Wis.) and Mikey Hill (Kenosha) both finished in the Top 10 among the 177 men's competitors.

Both RMU squads are off to the best starts in the programs' history.

After five tournaments, the Eagle men have a tourney win and two second-place finishes.

The women's team has finished lower than second just once in five tournaments, winning two. They are ranked No. 2 in the nation, trailing only the University of Central Florida.

This weekend, RMU will compete in Madison, Wis., in the Warhawk Open hosted by the University of Wis.-Whitewater.
