Lake Division powers dominate

November 5, 2009

Lake Zurich and Lake Forest were the last two North Suburban Conference teams standing in this year's IHSA boys soccer tournament.

So, it was fitting that the Bears and Scouts each had six players named to the North Suburban All-Conference Team that was announced recently. Stevenson, which tied Lake Zurich for first place in the NSC Lake Division title this year, also had six players honored.

Each of the 14 schools in the league had at least one player selected, and the 50-man roster included 38 seniors, 11 juniors and sophomore Jaroli Rubio of Round Lake.

Lake Zurich is still playing in the Class 4A state tourney. The Bears (20-4) will face Edwardsville (18-3-4) in the Final Four semifinals on Friday night at North Central College in Naperville.
