School based in Grayslake competes in tournament

November 3, 2009

Westlake Christian Academy in Grayslake finished its prep soccer season recently by playing in the Association of Christian School International tournament in Sycamore.

Westlake, a tiny, private school located on Route 120, won its first tourney game 5-1 despite being able to use just 10 players due to illness. It then was eliminated in the next round.

Coach Kurt Wilcox had 12 boys and 3 girls on his coed team, and will lose five seniors to graduation. Also ending his Westlake soccer career is Ji Hoon Ban, a freshman foreign-exchange student who will return to South Korea at the end of the school year.

Westlake finished its regular season with a 4-5 record.

Westlake is a Christian school with about 210 K-12 students.

Founded in Waukegan in 1972, Westlake relocated to Grayslake in 2002. WESTLAKE CHRISTIAN
