DEERFIELD


• Baseball -- A two-run seventh keyed a 6-5 win over Waukegan. In the seventh, with the game tied 4-4, Matt Glassman had a one-out single and Mike Bolnick had a bunt single. After an infield out advanced the runners, Zack Pearlstein delivered a two-single. Deerfield is 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Central Suburban North.


• Girls Lacrosse -- Deerfield put the ball in the net eight times but it wasn't enough in an 18-8 loss to Evanston.

GRANT


• Softball -- The Bulldogs (2-7) led 2-1 after 5 innings of a 5-3 loss to Lake Zurich. Junior pitcher Bri Brugioni pitched well and helped her own cause with a two-run home run. Freshman Amber Smith also homered.


• Grant -- The Bulldogs (3-6) played Lake Zurich tough, but lost 5-2. Nate Lucas had a two-run double in the first. David Dickinson pitched well in defeat.

GRAYSLAKE CENTRAL


• Baseball -- Claire Brennan had a double and triple, and Rachel Perkowitz and Abbie Goetsch each had doubles in a 5-3 loss to Cary-Grove.

GRAYSLAKE NORTH


• Girls Track -- Sarah Solomon ran the 400 in 1:07.4 and was the Knights' (19 team points) only winner in a loss to Woodstock (89) and Crystal Lake Central (80). Haleyanna Weber was second in the 400.


• Baseball -- The Knights had just two hits in a 5-4, eight-inning loss to Dundee-Crown. North tied it with a four-run bottom of the seventh. Nate Sousa pitched 6.1 innings and allowed just 2 earned runs.


• Girls Soccer -- Danielle Wohlfeil scored from Alyssa Soulis and Chloe Basa scored from Kim Shurtliff in a stunning 2-1 win over Johnsburg. The Knights are 5-4. It was the school's first-ever Fox Valley Conference win in the sport. Freshman keeper Brooke Sauer had 5 stops.

LAKE FOREST


• Baseball -- In a 12-2, 6-inning thumping of Round Lake, Spencer Rahn was the winning pitcher, yielding 4 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 6. Jon Grum and Jake Bailey set the table for the big Scouts (5-3) bats, getting on base 7 times and scoring 3 runs each. Beau Dobbins had 2 hits and 3 RBIs while junior Justin Mulhearn blasted a two-run homer.


• Girls Soccer -- The home team rolled 3-0 over Deerfield in its own eight-team tournament and will play Carmel in today's semis. Nicole Lipp, Rachel Quon and Haleigh McPeak found the back of the net while Finley Amato and Taylor Edwards shared work between the posts. The Scouts are 5-0-1 overall.


• Softball -- Winning pitcher Megan Salm helped her own cause with a homer and 4 RBIs in an 11-3 win over Round Lake. Julia Retsky also had 3 hits for the Scouts (2-4).


• Boys Tennis -- The Scouts didn't lose a set against Libertyville, with Peter Wolniak beating Anish Raman 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Conor Kester-Carter Wheatley played No. 1 doubles and won 6-1, 6-2.

LAKE ZURICH


• Softball -- Kelli Blume was 2 for 4 with an RBI to back the four-hit pitching of Megan Mattera, as the Bears improved to 10-3 with a 5-3 come-from-behind win over Grant.


• Baseball -- Ricky Erickson and Nathan Lucas each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in a 5-2 win over Grant. Austin Cox pitched 6 innings and Parker Asmann got the save. The Bears are 9-5-1.

LAKES


• Softball -- The 7-4 Eagles edged Mundelein 2-1 as Naomi Tesar's two-run double in the first plated Shannon Cooley and Sara Braden. Nicole Speck had 3 hits.

LIBERTYVILLE


• Softball -- The 20-0 slaughter was stopped in the third inning. Libertyville is 4-5 overall. The Cats scored 14 times in the second inning and North Chicago, as the home, had three at-bats and pitcher Mandy Cogg fanned 9. Athena Cocallas had 5 RBIs.


• Boys Lacrosse -- The Cats smashed Mundelein 11-2 and are 1-2 on the season. Jake Kolar had a hat trick, and Kurt Saunders and Tyler Cauble each scored twice.

STEVENSON


• Baseball -- Brad Sorkin improved to 3-0 by pitching a complete-game three-hitter in a 7-1 win over Vernon Hills. The Pats are 10-1.

VERNON HILLS


• Softball -- Anna Christensen went 3 for 3 and Sara Doerhoefer drove in 3 runs in a 9-2 thumping of Stevenson. The Cougars are 4-2 on the season. Amanda Zusman was the winning pitcher.


• Boys Tennis -- In a 4-1 win over Wauconda, David Alvaro and Erik Hencier posted straight-set singles wins.

WARREN


• Baseball -- Sean Kennedy pitched a five-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over Antioch. He fanned 9 and walked 0 to improve to 1-1, and he helped his own cause by homering and driving in 2 runs. Pat Oliver added a pair of hits. Warren is 6-5.


• Girls Soccer -- Kelsey Armour scored and Amanda Maciuba was perfect in goal as the Devils beat Zion-Benton 1-0 to improve to 2-4-2 on the year.

WAUCONDA


• Softball -- Kate Martino had 3 hits and drove in a run in a 2-1 loss to powerful Zion-Benton. The Dogs are 6-3 on the season.


• Boys Tennis -- The No. 3 doubles team of Mike Korstanje-Olaf Grau was the Bulldogs' lone winner in a loss to Vernon Hills.

WAUKEGAN


• Softball -- In a 5-0 loss to powerful Maine South ace pitcher Steph Rieuwpassa pitched well enough to deserve a better result. She fanned 5.


• Baseball -- Bobby Berrera was 2 for 3 in a 6-5 loss to Deerfield that dropped the Dogs to 2-12. The game was tied 4-4 after 6 and after Deerfield took a 6-4 lead, Waukegan got one in but had a runner picked off base and the game ended on a liner to first with a runner on base.


• Badminton -- In an 8-7 loss to Zion-Benton, the Bulldogs got wins from Paige Patel, Celina Garza, Karla Gosca, Sarah Ingleby and Anna Connelly in singles, and from Sam Stratton -Ingleeby and Gosca- Marian Garcia in doubles.

ZION-BENTON


• Softball -- Veronica Kraly's first-inning homer was guestimated to have traveled 300 feet, and Jessica Munda's RBI hit produced the second run in a 2-1 win over Wauconda. Winner Jenny Lotz (3-1) fanned 2 and walked 1 in 7 frames. The Bees are 9-4.


• Badminton -- In an 8-7 win over Waukegan, the Bees got singles wins from Christy Degler, Kelly Matorsky, Khalida Bakr, Shelby Lippeth and Sarah Serdar.
