Host Warren gets next shot at unbeaten Wheeling
Warren High's girls basketball team will enter the Land of the Giants on Friday in Round 4 of the Blue Devils' own holiday tournament.
The eight-team event features seven evenly-matched teams, plus the unbeaten Wheeling Wildcats (15-0), and the Wildcats are who Warren will face at 6 p.m.
In Tuesday's 50-31 win over Palatine, Warren got 10 points from Joree Green, 9 from both D'Anequa Taylor and Marie Pettis, and 7 from Alexis Leneau. The Devils (6-7) led 28-14 at halftime over a team that is 0-3 in the tourney and 2-11 overall.

Grayslake Central 55, niles North 46: The Rams prevailed behind 18 points from Megan LeBaron and 13 points from A lison Metzger. Katelyn Putkonen also contributed 8 points for Grayslake Central.
LAKE FOREST 53, DEERFIELD 51: This was the stunner of the first three days, as the Scouts' tower of power, Claire DiMario clicked for 18 points, and Maggie Burke had 17 points and 7 rebounds. Marty Striedl added nine points and five rebounds. Deerfiled (8-7 overall) got 14 points from both Colleen Forrest and Kelly O'Donnell. Deerfield shot just 30 percent from the field (17 of 57) compared to 38 percent (21 of 55) for the winners.
WHEELING 63, CARMEL 32: Janelle Cannon scored 27 points for Wheeling in this easy win. The Wildcats are 15-0. Carmel got 10 points from Tiffany Hendrickson and six from Jenna Korte.
At Lake Zurich
Barrington 62, Stevenson 58: Despite 15 points from Melissa O'Brien , the Patriots fell in the Suburban Holiday Showcase on Tuesday to finish 0-3 in pool play.
Montini 48, Lake Zurich 36: The Bears wrapped up pool play with a 2-1 record, losing to the powerful Mustangs despite 11 points from Olivia Allen .
AT MUNDELEIN
LIBERTYVILLE 32, CONANT 24: The red-hot Wildcats punched their ticket to the semifinals of the Mundelein tourney by going 3-0 in pool play, including this huge win over Conant. Hannah Walton had 10 points, Leah Kruckman 6 and Savannah Trees 7 for the Cats who will be play Mundelein at 8 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
CARy-GROVE 61, WAUKEGAN 47: The battle for the pool-play title was dominated by the Trojans who led 32-16 at halftime. Danasha Jenkins had 19 points and rapidly improving Sarah Angelos 14 for the Bulldogs, who went 2-1 in their pool and will play Vernon Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
VERNON HILLS 63, PRAIRIE RIDGE 58 (OT): The suddenly hot Cougars stunned highly regarded Prairie Ridge to finish second with a 2-1 record in pool play. Vernon Hills will face Waukegan on Friday and could finish as high as fifth in this 16-team event. Mallory Feece had 19 points, Kirsten Groody 15 and Jessica Schwartz 11 for the winners.
HOFFMAN ESTATES 58, ZION-BENTON 40: The Zee-Bees went 0-3 in pool play, and will face Streamwood at 9 a.m. on Friday. In this loss, Octavia Crump had 10 points, Kayla Parks 8 and Dominikque Williams 8.
