To help immigrants navigate the process of becoming a naturalized
U.S. citizen, a nonprofit family service agency in Waukegan has hired a
new immigration specialist to provide low-cost assistance in Waukegan,
Round Lake and Mundelein. ChildServ initiated its citizenship and
immigration program in Lake County 15 years ago, but had been without
an immigration specialist since January.

The young women who graduated from the St. Therese School of Nursing in
1958 marched, white caps on their heads, into a health care future they
could not have predicted: "the pill," HMOs, the closing of their
beloved hospital. But in the insular three years the student nurses lived and studied in
the 150-room school attached to the former St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, they formed a bond that has lasted five decades.

Baseball is America's pastime. It's also game known for its numbers. Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak, Cal Ripken's record of 2,632 consecutive games played and Hank Aaron's 755 career home runs all tell stories much larger than the numbers themselves. Mention any one of these numbers to a baseball fan and you're sure to call to mind memories and anecdotes.

Brent Allan eats fire on weekends. Allan is a marketing
consultant in Round Lake Beach during the week, but when he dons his
colorful gypsy outfit, he's Molotov the Gypsy. He performs at
festivals across the Midwest, eating fire, cracking jokes and
performing magic. As Molotov the Gypsy, he's a lot bolder and a bit
more disgusting.
