Green Town Demonstration Garden
The city's largest public garden got some much-needed love Saturday, as volunteers did beautification work in preparation for summer. A small group of helpers turned out to weed, plant and compost at Waukegan's Green Town Demonstration Garden on South Genesee Street. "It's a lot of stuff, but it's good work," said Newton Finn, who heads Green Town along with his wife, Nada Finn.
A sign says "Every Day is Earth Day" at the Green Town Demonstration Garden in Waukegan. Volunteers planted flowers and vegetables, applied compost and soil and weeded the garden. The garden was begun last year.
