Patriotic Walker
The horn-honking and hand-waving rarely stop for Damion Maynard. Across the county, mile by mile, people greet the fatigue-wearing man in the same friendly manner. This weekend, those responses will come from folks in Lake County. Maynard, the Idaho man who has made international headlines for walking across the country in support of American troops killed in Iraq, will make his way through the county over the next several days.
Damion Maynard, 33, of Pocatello, Idaho, walks along Sheridan Road in Zion. Maynard is walking one mile for every United States soldier that has been killed in Iraq.
