'I wish the country was like that today'

June 29, 2009

I'd just like to mention how much I enjoyed being a resident of Waukegan. I look back at how it was when I lived there and wish the whole country was like that today. Of course that will never happen. Our kids and grandkids will never know how great it was to be a kid and experience the things we did as kids.

Our downtown, the lake, going to the movies - four to pick from, the Genesee being the classiest of the four, and which I was a usher at, and many other things too numerous to mention here.

But most of all were the friends I made back there when going to WTHS (class of 1952). I'm still in contact with a few of them as of today. I only missed one reunion and that was because I was probably in some far off movie location.

I moved to California in 1963 to pursue and become a Hollywood stuntman and since worked with many of your favorite actors, which also took me all over the world a few times, and also gave me an opportunity to stop by my hometown Waukegan on the way back home. My becoming a stuntman was the main reason for leaving Waukegan. So "hello" to all you Waukeganites and my friends.
