As the chief of police, my job is to keep the residents of Waukegan safe. But each day I'm reminded that many of our residents are not protected from crime and violence. Nothing has brought that home to me more than the death of 6-year-old Evelyn Yuliana Vasquez, who was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her mother in her home.
Swami: Last month you called on the Waukegan City Council to get rid of public comment time, and instead they came up with some list of "commandments" to keep people in line. Since they didn't listen to you the first time, what's your alternate plan?
