A 33-year-old Lake Villa woman was arrested after she allegedly showed elementary school children sexually-orientated video clips as they exited the bus. Lake County sheriff's deputies arrested April Jackson of 21930 W. 7th St, unincorporated Lake Villa, and charged her with disorderly conduct.

Laura A. Bailey, 47, of 596 E. London Court, Round Lake Beach, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy. She faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 offense. Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Stephen Scheller said Bailey was brought into custody after admitting to engaging in sex with the teen on multiple occasions.

ZION -- The red trail of dye doesn't lie.

On the heels of a News-Sun story reporting Lake County foreclosures have jumped 82 percent this year, the state's Mortgage Relief Project will be in Grayslake next month to help area homeowners take advantage of programs that can help them keep their homes.

LAKE FOREST -- The last working farm in Lake Forest will become a subdivision if the City Council agrees with a proposal approved Wednesday night by the Plan Commission.

There is no truth to the rumor that dogs may be euthanized after Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha closes Dec. 31. Chicago resident Joanne Kehoe, who owns two greyhounds, said she e-mailed a link to fellow dog lovers that gave out the Dairyland Race Track Adoption Center's phone number. "I never said that these dogs might be euthanized ..."

The state of Illinois' grim financial outlook may mean that the College of Lake County will receive only a portion of its budgeted state funding this year.

Libertyville High School students took the expression "cold turkey" to new heights against smoking during the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout. During their lunch period, students got a chance to bowl for prizes after making a dollar donation to the cancer society. The bowling ball was a frozen turkey, and the pins were dressed to resemble cigarettes.

Adam Kalinowski, 93, of Gurnee was known to shower friends, family and grandkids with candy. Sadly, Kalinowski died in a car crash Wednesday night on Washington Street at Cemetery Road. His friends at Knollwood Club in Lake Forest will always remember him as "the candy man" and namesake of the Caddy of the Year Award.

A straw poll of 541 voters in state Sen. Susan Garrett's 29th District indicates 52 percent of respondents are in favor of moving prisoners from the military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to an idle Illinois prison.
