Woman charged with prostitution
A Deerfield Township woman faces prostitution charges after allegedly agreeing to have sex with a sheriff's deputy for money.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Robin O'Grady, 51, was using her Dogwood Street home to court clients. She was arrested Wednesday after agreeing to have sex with a detective for $225, said sheriff's spokesman Christopher Thompson.
The sheriff's office became suspicious of O'Grady after receiving numerous complaints of high-volume traffic at her home.
"Males would go into her home for 30 or 45 minutes at a time. But it was a constant thing -- all hours of the night," Thompson said.
While investigating O'Grady it was learned that she had a Web site where she offered massage and sexual services. Initial contact was made with her through the Web site, Thompson said.
"Hopefully, this will serve as a wake-up call to the clients of Ms. O'Grady and all the prostitutes in Lake County that we are actively pursuing the prostitutes as well as the johns," Sheriff Mark Curran said in a statement. "Not only is her business illegal, it is morally wrong, and I am pleased we were able to put a stop to it."
O'Grady lived alone at 1049 Dogwood St. A business called MYO Robins Spa is registered with that address. No one answered the phone at the business Thursday evening.
O'Grady has been charged with one count of prostitution and one count of keeping a house of prostitution. Both crimes are Class A misdemeanors. She was released from the Lake County Jail on Thursday morning after posting $100 bond. She has a May 21 court date.
