Legislative scholarships: State Rep. JoAnn D. Osmond, R-Antioch, has awarded 2008-09 Illinois General Assembly Scholarships for the 61st District. Those attending the University of Illinois are Jane Miller and Hannah Okamoto of Lindenhurst, Haley Janney of Ingleside, and Leslie Madorsky of Winthrop Harbor; attending Illinois State University are Tiffany Mihovilovich of Antioch, Emily Grum of Wadsworth, and Emily Congdon of Zion; and attending Southern Illinois University is Amanda Woods of Winthrop Harbor. Antioch Dems: The Antioch Democratic Organization has elected Gene Kryczka as its chairman. Other new officers are Peter Grant and Diana Camp, who become vice chairmen. Tim Chichester was elected treasurer, and Sandy Frances was named secretary. Kryczka, in announcing his goals as chairman, said, "The days of one-party rule are over in Antioch Township. I will dedicate myself to giving our community an alternative to the status quo for probably the past century. I will make sure all of our residents, regardless of political party, will have a voice in county and in state government as well as at the federal level for many of the issues."
