Police write 219 tickets during Route 12 detail

FOX LAKE -- An operation that included police agencies in two states and three counties led to 219 tickets on Route 12, from Elkhorn, Wis., to Arlington Heights.

The "Lights on US-12" detail over the Halloween weekend also made two criminal arrests, one for felony bail jumping and one for a wanted warrant. The task force issued 96 written warnings and took care of five minor crashes, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Robert Satkiewicz.

Tickets issued included:

Alcohol related, one; speeding, 59; seatbelts, 49; child restraint, one; improper lane usage, seven; following too close, six; graduated driver's license, one; other vehicle code violations, 95.

Written warnings included speeding, 29; improper lane usage, 13; following too close, three; other state vehicle code violations, 51.

Agencies involved in the detail included Illinois State Police, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Walworth County, Wis., and McHenry County sheriff's departments, and police departments from Elkhorn, Geneva, Lake Geneva and Genoa City, Wis., and police departments in Richmond, Spring Grove, Fox Lake, Lakemoor, Wauconda, Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurich, Kildeer, Palatine and Arlington Heights.
