Park City water, sewer rates going up

November 7, 2009

Water and sewer rates will be going up soon.

The City Council on Thursday passed an ordinance that will raise residential water rates for each 1,000 gallons from $4.10 to $4.51.

Commercial and industrial billings for 1,000 gallons will also be increased in a like amount. The minimum monthly billing for a commercial water user will rise from $55 to $68.62.

Monthly sewer rates will rise from 55 cents to 61 cents per 1,000 gallons of metered water consumption.

Thirty-day delinquent water and sewer accounts are subject to an 8 percent increase of the water bill. An additional 10 percent will be added for those who have not paid within 60 days.

Park City obtains its water from Waukegan. By policy, Park City is required to pass on intergovernmental water rate increases to its residents.
