Waukegan woman accused in fatal hit-run
NORTH CHICAGO -- A Waukegan woman was charged Thursday by North Chicago police in the Kemble Avenue hit-and-run death of 24-year-old Ernesto Ortiz.
Angela Keefe, 21, was charged with reckless homicide, aggravated reckless driving and failing to report an accident, said Lt. George McClary.
Ortiz, 24, of the 2000 block of Kemble Avenue was hit by Keefe's maroon Hyundai around 5:50 p.m. Monday near his home.
Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said Ortiz was pronounced dead of multiple internal injuries at 6:50 p.m. Monday at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Investigators said Keefe and Ortiz had been arguing moments before the incident.
McClary said Ortiz was standing in front of Keefe's car when he was struck.Keefe was located through interviews of area residents.
She remained in Lake County Jail on Thursday in lieu of $500,000 bond.
