Transit input sought in Lake Forest
LAKE FOREST -- Residents have until Dec. 18 to comment on public transit options in the city.
Besides residents, input is being sought from employees of local businesses and students attending Lake Forest schools for the study. The online survey can be accessed on the "What's New" page at the city's Web site, www.cityoflakeforest.com .
The survey is the second the city will have taken on potential transit service to reduce congestion, combat gas prices and support "green" options for public transportation. Survey comments will be accepted until Dec. 18.
The City lake Forest is experiencing a changing demand for public transportation as a result of traffic congestion, fluctuating gas prices, increased cost of area housing, environmental concerns, and changing demographics of resident and work force populations.
One option is linking bus service to the city's two Metra commuter rail stations.
In 2008, Lake Forest received a grant from the Regional Transportation Authority to study city transit needs. Members of the study committee include representatives of Conway Office Park on Route 60, Lake Forest Grade School District 67 and high school District 115, Lake Forest College. Lake Forest Academy, Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest Place, Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce, CROYA, financial institutions, Pace, Metra, RTA, residents and the city.
