Round Lake man charged in Chicago kidnapping

November 1, 2009

Bond was set Saturday for four men accused of kidnapping a man Thursday in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

Bond was set at $150,000 for Donald W. Hines, 39, of Aurora; Jeffrey J.

Hollinghead, 43, of Round Lake; and Kevin A. Koonce, 25, of Villa Park. They are charged with kidnapping and home invasion with a firearm.

A fourth defendant, Curtis A. Sanders, 34, of Chicago, has a previous felony drug conviction and received a bond of $175,000.

The four kidnapped a 28-year-old man from a home in the 3700 block of South Union Avenue, said Cook County Assistant State¹s Attorney Martha Kross.

The men allegedly demanded ransom from the victim¹s family. Police say the crime was drug-related.

Hollinghead went to a trash can to pick up the ransom, spotted police, dropped the ransom and tried to escape, Kross said.
