Wildwood business joins Tow Trucks for Tots parade

October 31, 2009

Wildwood Service will take its trucks on the road next Sunday in support of the Marine Toys for Tots program.

For the second consecutive year, wreckers from Wildwood Service will participate in the Tow Trucks for Tots parade, which will run from the Caterpillar plant in Rockdale to Toyota Park in Bridgeville.

Jack Herman and others from the Wildwood business will carry toys collected at a recent donation night at Jesse Oaks, 18490 W. Old Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake.

"It was a really neat event," Herman said of last year's parade, which set a world record for the longest parade of tow trucks. "A lot of people were on the bridges and overpasses as we went by. The primary goal is to collect toys for needy kids."

Toys brought to the parade will be donated to the Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade.

Another $3,000 raised through cover charges at the Jesse Oaks event will be used to purchase toys at a local Lake County store for donation to Toys for Tots, Herman said.
