Noisy traffic leads to assault of cop

August 7, 2008

MUNDELEIN -- A woman who was apparently fed up with police not taking action against her noisy neighbors assaulted a police officer.

Irina Kalinichenko, 49, of the 1300 block of Derby Lane, was arrested by police Friday morning after ripping off Sgt. Fred Kliora's name badge and then scratching his arm.

She was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Wilhelm Road just before 4 a.m. Friday, after Kalinichenko called to complain about early morning truck traffic at an adjacent business park, Sgt. John Monahan said.

Kalinichenko had called police numerous times in recent months to complain about the truck traffic, but because there are no ordinances barring them in the business park, police could take no action, Monahan said.

On Friday, Kalinichenko was yelling in the parking lot of one of the factories when police arrived. During a conversation with police, she allegedly became angry, battered Kliora and struggled as police arrested her.

Kalinichenko was released after posting $200 bond.
