Treats for toddlers at 'Pumpkin Tales'

October 29, 2009

WAUCONDA -- For those at "Pumpkin Tales" on Wednesday at the Lake County Discovery Museum, the run-up to Halloween wasn't spooky at all.

Despite listening to the seasonal "Leonardo the Terrible Monster" story, costumed toddlers 5 and under made Halloween cards, learned how pumpkins grow and did other crafts. Lots of treats, but no tricks.

The "Pumpkin Tales" program was one of several Halloween events held throughout October at the museum in the Lakewood Forest Preserve on Route 176, just west of Fairfield Road.

Hours for the exhibit are 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Saturday; 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults, $2.50 for ages 4 to 17. Kids age 3 and under are free.
