Leo Kim , son of Jae C. and Jae R. Kim of Lake Villa; Amber Gensler , daughter of Karyn and Kenneth Nyara of Gurnee; and Sean Benjamin , son of retired colonels Marcia and David Benjamin of South Barrington, graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. Kim is a student at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and a 2006 graduate of Warren Township High School, Gurnee. Gensler is a student at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, and a 2005 graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. Benjamin is a student at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Ind., and a 2006 graduate of St. Viator High School, Arlington Heights.

2nd Marine Division Lance Cpl. Kevin Cronin , son of Kevin and Cheryl Cronin of Libertyville, returned to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina after deployment in Iraq on Oct. 12. He is a 2003 graduate of Carmel Catholic High School, Mundelein.

Rodney Cook , son of Rodney Cook Sr. of Wadsworth, graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. He is a student at Marion Military Institute, Alabama.

Air Force Airman Nathaniel Hartley , son of Valerie Gallegos of Spring Grove and Mark Hartley of Antioch, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2004 graduate of Antioch Community High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Heather Olandese , daughter of Laura Olandese of Arlington Heights and Michael Olandese of Wauconda; and Navy Seaman Recruit Christine Cameron , niece of Robert and Mary Rockwell of Round Lake Heights, completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. Olandese is a 2008 graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School of Lincolnshire. Cameron is a 2009 graduate of Round Lake Senior High School. Military Notes
