Presentation: To spotlight the realities of sexual assault and abuse in our communities and solicit the help of caring men in stopping violence against women, Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center has announced a new Men's Initiative called "UP to US." The center invites all men to attend a presentation to launch this vital new program at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Ave. Participants will examine how men learn to be perpetrators and by-standers, and ideas of what each person can do to change that. Anxiety: The Meditation for Anxiety class will be held at 7 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 19 at Gurnee Counseling Center, 4212 Old Grand Ave., Suite 102. It is taught by Tobias Kaemmerer, a lifelong practitioner of meditation who began his study at age 8 under the guidance of Tibetan Buddhist monks. Fair: Residents of the 26th Senate District can attend an informative, interactive senior health and lifestyle fair from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Libertyville Sports Complex, 1950 N. Highway 45. Admission is free and is being sponsored by state Sen. Dan Duffy, R-Lake Barrington, and state Rep. Ed Sullivan Jr., R-Mundelein. Attendees obtain information about prevalent senior topics such as Illinois Cash Dash, Medicare part D, nutrition, veteran's affairs, retirement planning and reverse mortgages. A Rules of the Road refresher course will be held at 10 a.m. There will also be health screenings for blood pressure, vision, hearing and Futrex body composition testing.
