Citadel season opens with murder mystery
LAKE FOREST-- Citadel Theatre's seventh season opens Nov. 6 with the production of "Murder in Green Meadows" by Douglas Post. Directed by Citadel veteran Wayne Mell, "Murder in Green Meadows" revolves around two couples living in the idyllic subdivision of Green Meadows.
Their dark sides are exposed as a scandalous tale of passion, deception and revenge is revealed in this psychological thriller. All shows are at the Grotto of Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest.
First presented on television in shorter form in 1986 by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Douglas Post's "Murder in Green Meadows" earned six Emmy Award nominations. Soon after, Post extended the production into a full-length psychological thriller that is sure to electrify audiences.
The story involves two couples living in a quiet suburban neighborhood where beneath their middle-American exteriors lurks something truly rotten. The diabolical plot continues to thicken throughout the performance until the final tense showdown between a murderer and an aggrieved widow.
With performances held at the intimate setting of the Grotto in the Gorton Center, audience members will get up close and personal with these sensational characters.
"Murder in Green Meadows" is produced by Wendy Kaplan of Deerfield and stars Michael Jay Bullaro of Barrington, Jessica Lauren Fisher of Libertyville, Andrew J. Pond of Willowbrook, and Susan Steinmeyer of Highland Park.
"Murder in Green Meadows" runs Nov. 6-22. Show times are at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Ticket prices are $25, $22 for students and seniors, and $59 for three show season subscriptions.
