Bullock gets mom wish
She'll help bring up hubby's girl, whose mom is porn star
Over the years, Sandra Bullock has told me on several occasions she would love to become a mom. After marrying Jesse James at age 40 in 2005, Bullock even joked, ''I became a bride late, so maybe I'll become a mother late as well.''
In a twist of fate, that has kind of happened to the popular actress -- and friends report Bullock fully plans to be actively involved in helping bring up James' daughter Sunny, whose mother is veteran adult film star Janine Lindemulder.
''Sandra has been doing all she can to make a great home for that little girl,'' a longtime Bullock pal told me Monday. ''There's no way she or Jesse want Janine to have much, if any, impact on Sunny's life.''
The reasons are pretty clear. Not only is Lindemulder a porn star, but she previously signed away custody rights for the child to James and is coming off a prison sentence for tax evasion.
She now has only a few hours of weekly visitation rights with the child, and those likely will be further reduced due to court proceedings initiated by James and Bullock.
Lindemulder's belief that fighting for custody is a lost cause reportedly was best expressed in a text message she sent James in July: ''U win. Sandra finally has her baby -- congratulations.''
''Sandy is so excited about this little girl,'' said her friend. ''It's like a whole new chapter for her. ... She expects she will soon be able to adopt Sunny legally as well.''
TAYLOR SQUARED: While Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner say they're just friends, it's merely a cover for their romance -- another celebrity attempt to keep a relationship under the radar.
At an L.A. restaurant the other night, the two couldn't keep their eyes (or hands) off each other. In the ladies' room, Swift was overheard saying, ''I feel like I'm floating -- and it's all because of him!''
Here's a funny tidbit: They quickly discovered they both have collected Elizabeth Taylor memorabilia for a long time -- ranging from DVDs of the Oscar winner's films to signed stuff they've bought on eBay.
Now the two lovebirds are angling to meet La Liz. Talk about a photo-op!
• By the way, Lautner had so much fun when he was in Chicago recently for Swift's concert, he's told his ''New Moon'' team he'd love to be part of the Chicago date for the vampire flick's mall tour that soon hits town. Check the co-sponsor's Web site, hot topic.com, for updates.
WHITE HOUSE WORRIED: Sources in the Obama administration are loudly whispering their displeasure over Sean Penn's trip to Havana this week -- allegedly to interview Fidel Castro for a magazine piece.
Apparently the timing is tricky -- given ongoing negotiations over normalizing relations with Cuba. ''This is good PR for Castro, but not for us at this point,'' said a White House source.
STAGE SET: Mayor Daley, Northlake mayor Jeffrey Sherwin and a group of area mayors will be onstage at the Bank of America Theater tonight, celebrating the more than two-year run of ''Jersey Boys,'' slated to finally close here Jan. 10. ... Oscar winner Olympic Dukakis headlines the American Blues Theater benefit Nov. 16 at Bridgeview Bank, 4753 N. Broadway, reading a passage from ABT's spring show ''Ripped: The Living Newspaper Project.'' ... Acclaimed Chicago actor Mike Nussbaum's role as a World War II vet in Remy Bumppo Theatre's ''Heroes'' reminds us Nussbaum not only was a veteran of that war, but sent the actual telegram signaling the end of World War II -- as a tech sergeant in the Army Signal Corps stationed in Reims, France, on June 5, 1945. Nussbaum has a framed copy of the telegram, signed both by him and Ike -- clearly a proud possession. ... The show will go on! Despite having her right leg in a cast -- plus severe pain in her left -- Berwyn native Sondra Radvanovsky still plans to open in ''Ernani'' at the Lyric Opera tonight. The soprano suffered a sprained ankle and torn ligaments during a recent -- clearly overly taxing -- production of ''Il Trovatore'' at the San Francisco Opera.
SEEN ON THE SCENE: After flying back from Cincinnati Sunday, Jay Cutler and Lance Briggs were spotted at the Underground, licking their wounds after their severe licking by the Bengals.
