Five Guys restaurant to open

October 30, 2009

One of President Obama's favorite burger joints is coming to Libertyville.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, the national chain known for its juicy, greasy burgers and fresh french fries, will open on Milwaukee Avenue just north of Route 176.

MJK Real Estate Holding Co. bought the property for an undisclosed amount from Liberty Auto City Inc. The site was previously occupied by Miller-Krueger Dodge.

Also scheduled to open next year in the 18,488-square-foot shopping center are Chipotle Mexican Grill, Dunkin' Donuts, CD One Price Cleaners and T-Mobile.

President Obama made a surprise lunchtime stop at a franchise in Washington, D.C., during taping in May for an NBC network special with Brian Williams.

Five Guys has opened more than 300 restaurants in less than five years.
