North to present Shakespeare play
The Naperville North High School Drama Department is presenting "Macbeth" as the fall play.
"Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' explores a wide variety of themes that do not relate specifically to history, but are universal," said Bill Burghardt, one of the co-directors of the show. "For instance, Shakespeare explores a great number of dichotomies such as good and evil, order and disorder, and reason and emotion. His work also reveals a great deal about being human."
The student cast of the production worked hard to match the challenge of putting together a Shakespearean play.
"To me, finishing my high school theater career with Macbeth has come full circle," said senior Emily Novak. "The first play I was in was also a Shakespeare show, and I continue to enjoy his work."
Sahil Angelo is also a senior, but this is his first stage production.
"I enjoyed working with the cast," he said. "We've connected really well and formed a strong bond with one another. It's been a great experience for me."
The show will run Thursday through Sunday in the Naperville North auditorium. All shows begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $7; $6 for seniors and students. Visitschools.naperville203.org/north/ .
