Businessman charged with bribery
A Naperville businessman was charged in federal court today with
bribing "an agent of the City of Chicago" in an effort to land a

A 20-year-old Naperville motorcyclist's efforts to get somewhere in a hurry were thwarted when an officer clocked him traveling 112 mph in a 45-mph zone Tuesday night. A Naperville officer spotted the motorcycle traveling south on Route 59 near 95th Street at an extremely high rate of speed.

Naperville Police are searching for whoever slashed tires on six vehicles in the downtown area Saturday. Naperville Crime Stoppers are offering a $1,000 reward for any information about the perpetrators that leads to an arrest.

Addict could get ‘boot camp’ for Naperville burglary
A 19-year-old Naperville man who turned to crime to support his heroin addiction has been sentenced to four years in prison for burglarizing a house earlier this year. Jeffrey R. Dillavou could escape that fate if he successfully completes the Illinois Department of Corrections' "impact incarceration program," a form of boot camp sometimes offered to first-time or nonviolent offenders.

Truck fire closes tollway
No one was hurt when a semi truck caught fire on westbound I-88 just west of the Winfield Road exit shortly before 7:30 a.m. Monday, but at least a few commuters were delayed. Rescue crews closed down all westbound lanes for nearly an hour while they extinguished the flames.

Probation for school worker in sex case
Laura J. Obzera, a former Valley View School District employee, who
admitted she had sexual contact with a teenage boy, was sentenced
Wednesday to 48 months of probation. Obzera, 50, of 876 Bonnie Brae Lane in Bolingbrook must register as a sex offender for life.

Key Wester stabbing called a hoax
The Aurora man who told Naperville police he had been beaten and
stabbed in an armed robbery outside the Key Wester restaurant last
weekend was lying, officials said, and he now faces a misdemeanor
charge of filing a false police report.

Two adults and two children were hospitalized Wednesday night following a head-on collision near Plainfield. About 9 p.m., two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash on Route

Update: Seventy-fifth Street at Washington Street in Naperville was closed to traffic for almost three hours Tuesday morning after a truck driver attempting to change direction tipped the truck's trailer, spilling its load.

Fire did an estimated $500,000 in damage to a Waubonsie Valley High School storgage building and its contents Saturday night in a blaze that erupted while the homecoming dance was taking place at the nearby Aurora school.
