Naperville burglary suspect charged with driving 112 mph
A Naperville man already awaiting trial on charges of burglary and battery has even more trouble with the law, for allegedly riding his motorcycle on the city's far southwest side at a speed of 112 mph.
Eric A. Miller, 20, has a preliminary appearance date pending in DuPage County Circuit Court in Wheaton on a misdemeanor charge of speeding more than 40 mph over the posted limit.
Naperville police Sgt. Lee Martin, supervisor of the department's traffic unit, said a patrol officer stopped Miller at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday as he rode his red 2004 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle south on Route 59 near 95th Street.
The officer noted the cycle was moving "at an extremely high rate of speed," Martin said in a written statement. Miller "was clocked on radar traveling 112 mph in a 45 mph zone," Martin said.
Miller lives at 1327 Modaff Road, in The Ponds of Naperville condominium complex in the central part of the city. He was curbed near Rollingridge Road and Route 59 and released on bail after being ticketed, Martin said.
Records on file in Will County Circuit Court in Joliet indicated Miller is awaiting trial there on felony charges of residential burglary, criminal trespass to a residence and theft.
Naperville police arrested him Jan. 9, after he allegedly broke into a home on the 3900 block of Bluejay Lane in the Tall Grass neighborhood, court records showed.
Miller is accused of stealing two pieces of electronic equipment with a combined estimated value of between $300 and $10,000, according to court records. His next court appearance in that case is slated for Nov. 17.
DuPage County court records indicated Miller is also awaiting trial on two charges of domestic battery, stemming from an Oct. 24 incident in Naperville. A Nov. 30 court date has been set in that matter.
