White Eagle: Vibrant and connected community

The elegant entrance to White Eagle Club hints at what's inside: a 27-hole golf course, luxury homes, a community center chock full of resources and amenities, and a vibrant and connected neighborhood.
On a recent sunny Friday, parents and children congregated to catch up on small talk outside White Eagle Elementary after the last school bell rang. Built in 1989, White Eagle is entering its 20th year, although a feeling of newness still pervades. Only the maturing trees belie the age of the community.
With 1,085 homes, according to Homeowners Association president Mike Reilly, roving security protects White Eagle Club 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"It appears to contribute to a safe environment based on the number of police reports," Reilly said. "We've consistently had 35 to 40 percent fewer incidents reported to the police department than other communities and subdivisions in the southwest portion of the city."
Community activism and involvement define White Eagle Club.
"We've never had a lack of residents willing to step forward and serve on the board," Reilly said.
Reilly built his first White Eagle home in 1995, and his second, and current, home in 2001.
"We are a community that surrounds a private country club," Reilly said. "The White Eagle Golf Club is separate from the White Eagle Homeowners Association. Having the course in the middle of the community is a very attractive feature."
