Today

Concert: The Global Percussion Network and Evaristo Aguilar will be featured in concert at Waubonsie Valley High School at 7:30 p.m. The group focuses on melodic percussion and pure improvisation, guiding the audience into their unique musical world. Joining the Global Percussion Network for this special event is Evaristo Aguilar, percussion artist and educator from Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Tampico, Mexico. This event is free and open to the community.

Volunteer open house: The annual Naperville Park District Holiday Volunteer Open House will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave., Naperville. Kids ages 12 and up and adults of all ages are welcome. Visit www.napervilleparks.org for more details.

Tuesday

Viewing of new Milky Way images: North Central College is one of only 11 sites in Illinois authorized by NASA to unveil two large-scale, multi-wavelength images showing the core of the Milky Way Galaxy as viewed by the Hubble Space Telescope, the Chandra Space Telescope and the Spitzer Observatory. The viewing of these poster-size images will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in North Central's Oesterle Library, 320 E. School St. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors will also be able to take an up-close look at the library's first-edition copy of Galileo's "Dialogo." Wednesday

Humanists: The Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland meet at the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church, 4 S 535 Old Naperville Road, Naperville, at 7:30 p.m. The topic "Dearly Beloved, We Are Gathered Together" will be presented by Howard Katz, a Humanist celebrant. Free carwash: Delta Sonic Car Wash is offering free car washes to all military veterans on Wednesday. Veterans simply need to inform a carwash cashier that they are a veteran and they will receive their free wash. Delta Sonic's Naperville location is at 1780 North Aurora Road.

Visit Day: North Central College will host a Visit Day that's open to all high school students and their parents or guardians. Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. in Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Lecture: The Naperville Community Art Associates and the Naperville Public Library will co-sponsor a free lecture at 7:30 p.m. at the 95th Street Library in Naperville. The title of the lecture is "Storytelling in Old Master Works at the Art Institute," and it will cover works in various media, including painting, prints, sculpture and tapestry. No reservations are required.

Multicultural Fair: "A Big Day to Celebrate Around the World" is the theme of the 11th annual Mill Street School Multicultural Fair, held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school, 1300 N. Mill St. The public is invited for live entertainment, delicious foods, special celebrations and fun exhibits.

Music: The Union hosts an album release party for returning local artist Kevin Prchal as he unveils "Eat Shirt and Tie," a collection of nine new songs, at 7 p.m. at The Union, 129 W. Reading of original musical: North Central's visiting lecturers in the fine arts -- lyricist Matt Boresi, composer Jonathon Lynch and director/choreographer Suzy Olsen -- invite members of the public to a staged reading of their original musical titled "Lunacy," based on the Jules Verne novel "From the Earth to the Moon."
