Naperville man charged with third DUI
A Naperville man remained Friday night in DuPage County Jail in Wheaton on a $75,000 bond, after being arrested and charged with drunken driving for the third time in little more than seven years.
Jose A. Rincon, of 1094 Heritage Hill Drive on the city's northwest side, faces trial on two felony charges of aggravated driving under the influence, as well as single counts of driving while license revoked, leaving the scene of an accident and improper lane use, Naperville police Cmdr. Mike Anders said.
Rincon, 27, was arrested shortly after 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, as police were investigating the report of a hit and run traffic crash near Benton Avenue and Washington Street in the downtown area, Anders said.
A witness told police of hearing the sound of a green, 1995 Chevrolet Suburban sport utility vehicle striking a black, 2007 Honda Accord, Anders said. The unoccupied Accord was parked on Washington Street at the time, he said.
The SUV was soon located in a parking lot at the corner of Benton Avenue and Ellsworth Street, Anders said. Investigators determined Rincon had been driving it at the time of the crash, and found him a short time later walking on Spring Avenue near Washington Street, he said.
Law enforcement records showed Rincon was arrested July 21, 2002, near East Downer Place and Broadway in downtown Aurora, where he was charged with DUI, driving without a license, failure to signal and making an improper turn.
He served jail time following a March 19, 2007, drunken-driving crash near Ogden Avenue and Naper Boulevard on Naperville's northeast side, records indicated. He was charged in that case with two counts of DUI and one count each of driving without a license, improper lane use and speeding, according to records.
Rincon is scheduled to appear Nov. 16 in court in connection with the most recent drunken-driving case.
