From poker to tea, plenty of ways to aid relief efforts
Naperville Responds has a number of fundraisers on tap to help reach its goal of building 20 homes on the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast.
The $10-for-20 Campaign is based on the idea that if every resident were to give $10, Naperville Responds could raise about $1.5 million. Gifts to this campaign are posted on www.napervilleresponds.org and contributions can be mailed to Naperville Responds at 123 Water St., Naperville, IL 60540.
On Nov. 30, Hollywood Casino is hosting a Texas Hold 'Em tournament, limited to 80 players, with a cash prize of $10,000 or a seat in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The registration fee per player is $500, 62.5 percent of which will benefit Naperville Responds. For information, contact Julie Cole at juliecole@gmail.com or 630-369-9070.
In addition, the Women of Naperville Country Club have selected Naperville Responds to be the beneficiary of their charitable holiday giving. During the organization's member/guest tea in December, members will host a presentation by Naperville Responds, explaining the progress to date in Pass Christian, Miss., and how the community can continue to lend a hand.
If you have an idea for a fundraiser or would like to help with an event, contact Naperville Responds events coordinator Roxanne Lang at roxannemlang@comcast.net.
