1996: The seeds of The Sun's new photo- and feature-driven focus are sown in the weekly Fox Valley Villages 60504 edition.
1998: The Sun's staff moves from its downtown headquarters since 1965
into its printing facility at 1500 W. Ogden Ave. after a $3.9 million
office conversion.
1999: Marilyn Lemak sedates and smothers her three young children in their Naperville home.
2000: Hollinger International, parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times, buys The Naperville Sun and its string of weeklies.
2001: On Sept. 11, terrorists crash planes into the World Trade Center,
Pentagon and Pennsylvania countryside. Among the local tragedies is the
death of Navy Cmdr. Dan Shanower, a former Highlands Elementary
Student, at the Pentagon.
2003: On March 30, The Sun begins printing six Naperville editions each
week. In September, Naperville opens its third public library, at 95th
Street.
