 1935: The Sun's first edition rolls off the press in Downers Grove.

1936: Publisher Harold Moser sells the paper to Harold White and Gordon Haist for $600.

1937: White dissolves partnership with Haist and marries Eva Anderson, with whom he'll publish the paper for more than 50 years.

1938: White buys the building at 128 S. Washington St. that will serve as the home of The Sun until 1965.

1939: The Sun cuts off free circulation. During a winter subscription drive, Eva White sells 1,075 subscriptions at $1 per year.
